Shante' Stewart is a freelance artist who has been working and living in Durham, NC for the past 14 years. Stewart has study at North Carolina Central University and attained a Political Science degree, and an Art Education degree. She has been teaching for 2 years at Southern School of Energy and Sustainability.She has worked and mentored children and young adults for over 10 years. Stewart choice of medium is mostly acrylic; however branches of to oil and spray paint or different surfaces. For all of her art students she would like to expose them to art education, art exposure, and art integration. Ms. Stewart's student artists won 2nd place and 4th place in the annual Congressman Butterfield's art competition in April 2017. S.S.E.S. student artists also had a chance to paint with world graffiti artists at the Unscripted Hotel in Durham, NC.

Synopsis of Classes
Student will experience 2-D media, such as drawing, painting, and design, and basic 3-D media. Using the elements of art and principles of design, they will complete technique assignments and create their own work. Students will learn to analyze visual images, critique their own artwork and the artwork of others, and write short essays about a variety of visual art topics while studying the basics of Art History.
Intermediate Art
This is an intermediate course for the study of visual arts media through illustration techniques in drawing, painting, graphic design and three-dimensional constructions. It is a combined studio and continued world art history course which places emphasis upon reinforcing and building on material covered within Introduction to Visual Arts instruction. Students will increase proficiency of expression in various media and understanding of historical themes and artistic movements.
